published their infamous, 20 Worst Foods in America 2009. The results are staggering.
If you’re indulging in dessert, that’s one thing. You figure it’s extra. However, Baskin Robbin’s large chocolate Oreo shake is way, way over the top at an incredible 2,600 calories.
Think you can do well by having a salad? Not at T.G.I. Fridays. Six out of seven would be more than half the daily recommended calories for many people. Skip the pecan crusted chicken salad unless you want 1,360 calories of which the company refuses to disclose just what that includes.
Looking for a healthy sandwich? You won’t find it at Blimpies, though why anyone would think they were getting something healthy at a place called “blimpies” is beyond me.
How about a nice fish entree’? That can’t be all bad–as long as you don’t order the Atlantic salmon from Outback Steakhouse with it’s 1,640 calories, the equivalent of 25 chicken McNuggets.
The calorie counts for the 20 worst foods are simply mind boggling. How can restaurants serve food that is so fat laden, so unhealthy–knowingly? This can’t be any kind of honor to be included on such a list. Their customers like it, they say. Well, keep that up and you won’t have too many customers left.
Shame on you, Chilis, T.G.I. Fridays, Quiznos, Outback Steakhouse!
Sometimes the best way to find motivation is to look within. I’m not talking about the self talk you engage in to propel yourself forward. Rather, when your motivation is flagging, look at your successes.
The question of how to find motivation is probably the single biggest hurdle you’ll encounter on your road to wellness. If you’re like the average person, it’ll be a hurdle you meet more than once. So where is the solution?
I had success with my efforts to lose weight and lead a more healthy lifestyle. I tried several different approaches including my choice of diet, how I exercised, and extra things to try and make a difference. For example, I started making sure that I had at least two servings of lowfat dairy a day. At the time, studies were being published showing the link between fat metabolism and dairy consumption. If nothing else, it was beneficial to get the calcium.
Having grapefruit daily was also a part of my regime. Studies showed similar results by including grapefruit in your daily diet as well as an aid in lowering cholesterol. Besides, I love grapefruit. That was easy to do. I also added some to my diet including green tea and chromium picolate. I can’t say as if one helped more than another, yet the combination along with regular exercise were key.
Now, I’ve gained a few pounds. However, since I won the battle before, I know that I have the tools to success. While I still take the supplements, I haven’t eaten as much dairy as I used to. I’m also not eating the smaller meals with snacks. So, to find motivation, I’m going to embrace what worked before and get back on that road to wellness.
