January 17: National Customer Service Day

January 17 is National Customer Service Day. I tried to think what the logic of a day in January versus one in December with all the retail sales, but nevertheless, it is a good reminder.

I appreciate good customer service. Being in business of my own along with my retail background give me an insight into how important it is. When I receive good customer service, I like to share my experience. I had a great experience with an online company this past Christmas. I meant to tweet about it, but I hope a blog post will be fine too.

I ordered a couple of items from the company, Forced Exposure. My niece’s husband who I had drawn for Christmas, wanted a couple of more obscure DVDs than I could not find locally. I quickly found what I wanted on their site and placed my order.

Since it was a weekend, I didn’t expect an immediate response. Sure thing though, Monday morning I received my confirmation. A short time later another email arrived telling me that one of the items was out of stock. They had no idea when it would be available again, if at all.

I emailed back, saying to send what was in stock. What impressed me so much was the speed of the company’s responses. Literally, in minutes, I was receiving replies back to my questions. Remember, this was the Christmas season. They had to have been busy. Yet, good customer service prevailed. My holiday stress was abated.

That’s my good customer service story. Thank you, Forced Exposure!
