Relaxing Outdoors

Our poor outdoor patio furniture. A few pieces are buried in the snow. They have only become visible these past few days as warmer temperatures have moved in. It is actually in the 20s today. Heat wave!

There is something so incredibly relaxing about just sitting outside and enjoying the day. My husband and I got into the habit of sitting on the deck, enjoying a glass of wine before dinner this past summer. It was a good opportunity to unwind. We would talk about our days, letting go of the work tension. No more work mode. This was our time.

Ours is not one of those fancy patio dining sets. It’s simple and suits our needs well. As I muse about our summer meals on the deck, thoughts of other outdoor improvements are occurring to me, that is in addition to our herb garden that I’ve been planning. I think we should have more dinners outside, more time to relax and do absolutely nothing at all.

I like grilling out. It sure beats heating up the house and having a big mess to clean. Grilling out makes you feel like you are on vacation. That’s a good feeling. Last summer, we didn’t boat as much as we usually do because of the cool summer. It was been perfect for grilling out.

I have a friend who lives in Florida. She tells me that she and her husband practically live out on their lanai, all nicely furnished and comfortable. That sounds like a good life.

As I look outside, I see a sea of white. It’s hard to imagine us sitting out there and soaking up the sun, let alone eating outside. Well, I know one thing I will want to do this weekend. I’m going to have to look at some patio tables. If we are going to spend more time outdoors, we are going to do it in style.
