Back on the Right Track

Okay, completing my first week getting back on track. The weigh-in brought good news. I lost one pound. Fifteen more to go! I think I did very well this week. I worked out twice. I did get some good cardio in. We went geocaching this weekend. Walking in the snow is a great workout if you don’t have snowshoes–and especially after you did a workout with a leg emphasis!

I’ve also done well with my choices. When dining out, I did not order a burger and fries. My fare consisted of a salad (dressing on the side) and soup or chili. Those beans are power foods, man! So, I’m pretty proud of myself. On to the next week!

Happy New Year!

A new year and of course, a new start. At the dreaded annual doctor visit, I learned just how much I weigh, always of the bad news variety. Okay, so I gained a bit and maybe the pants that I was able to wear a few months back don’t fit. I know I can do it. I know what tools work best for me. So, it’s back on the bandwagon.

I started to get a bit careless. While I’ve been good with sweets, some would say saintly as I pass up trays and trays of chocolates, cookies, holiday treats, I’ve been a bit lax with fried goodies like onion rings (yum.), mushroom-swiss burgers (yummy!), and butter sauces in my own cooking. So I know where I have to start. I also know that I have to get back on track with the workouts.

The cold has kept me indoors more than I’d like. I have no excuse actually. I bought the performance clothing, which is worth every single penny you invest in it. I know the routes to take. Just laziness, but I don’t admonish myself too severely. I know where I need to go from here. Onward and upwards, a foothold please to help me aboard the bandwagon.

Abs Diet–Week 3

I’m starting to feel different. I’m so liking the diet plan Abs Diet Week 3. I’m finding it easy and satisfying. We haven’t been eating out a lot, which probably helps. That is one of my downfalls. I was actually proud of myself yesterday. I worked. I hate working on Saturdays. Yet, I came home and worked out as tired as I was. I had upped my weights this week to a challenging weight that left me slightly sore the next day. The increase was about 2 1/2 pounds for 4 of my exercises. When I worked out at the gym, I used their weights which unfortunately don’t include those gradual steps. They have 15 and then 20 pounds. I couldn’t do my 17 1/2 pounds, so I did the 15. It was actually an easy workout because of it.

Now if you want to do a killer ab exercise, try this one. The exercise is done on what they call a cable crossover machine. It looks like something from the playground. You know the one: you hang down and reach across to the next bar to swing across to the other side. With this machine, you use slings to put your arms through and hang down. Next, you lift your legs up to your chest. For oblique work, you twist to the right or left and draw your legs up. Sound easy? No way. I guarantee you’ll feel it the next day. Perhaps an at-home version would be to lie on your back, raise your legs up and then slowly lower them. Ouch!

Next week, I’ll keep up with the increased weight. At the gym, I’ll just go ahead and skip to the next weight up. The following week I’ll be adding another set to my circuit.
