Tomorrow’s the Big Day

Tomorrow, I will run my first 5k. This is unique. Rather than a traditional race, it is a Virtual 5k at Spark People. The premise is to do your run, wherever–inside or out–walk or run–and post your results on the forums. It is a way to do a run with a group of people you relate to but who live all over the country. I’m excited. I’m not competing against anyone, but myself. I’m just trying to improve my own time. My husband is going to join me.

To prepare, I did a light walk today. Nothing too taxing, just enough to keep me active. I’m going to do my run on the treadmill. I’ll just let my body decide how to proceed–run as long as I can, walk, and then begin again until I hit that 5k mark. Then tomorrow, I’ll celebrate. I bought a bottle of sparkling wine and some lobster for dinner. I’m planning on victory.
